Global climate change is an issue with consequences for various disciplines, including law, government and public policy, economics, human rights, and culture. An enduring venue for intellectual discourse on the present leading issues, the Boston Athenæum presents a panel discussion featuring the MIT faculty addressing the impact of climate change in Boston and the surrounding area. The Athenæum sought to produce an invitation suite to create anticipation and set the tone for the “Sink or Swim” event, offering both warnings and hope.

Approach

The event title references the challenges and opportunities integral in preserving the city and surrounding areas as sea levels rise and significant storms increase. The save the date requires the viewer to unveil the event details by removing the insert card hence receding the high sea levels. The invitation doubles as a program booklet for the panel discussion and illustrates the Boston skyline in a future where infrastructure and environmental concerns are disregarded.
